We Lived…
Thanks to the stalwart insistence of Ben, my newest player at the Ravens Fell table, we not only made it to Mount Doom, but returned alive. Seriously. None of this would be here if not for Ben, who rebuilt not only the site but every blog post: one entry at a time.
So Ben saved the day. Now what?
Well, you get to keep reading I suppose.
Guess that means I need to keep writing stuff. Thanks, Ben.
To be honest I am writing. And it’s fun, if daunting. Fun because there’s no pressure to produce right now. It’s material for contingency play. If the party turns left… And daunting because the writers (and shoes) that have tread this way before are impressive. To fill. Big. Failed metaphor. Whatever. Where am I treading? I’m sure you already know.
Basically, I’ve lifted the Infernal material from the Castle of the Silver Prince, fixed typos, edited it for clarity and put it into practice with working examples spread across the various layers of Hell. I envision nine books, each covering sufficient material for the DM to conduct proper ad-hoc hex crawls (with a destination in mind). I want the DM to have a sound understanding of and support for the denizens of each layer, along with a minimum of 1 and usually 2 fully fleshed out adventure locations with leads and hooks.
I have completed work on two of the nine layers and begun work on a third, so…progress is underway. But it’s a significant undertaking.
With that in mind (and in celebration of the Blue Bard’s continued existence) I’d like to share a bunch of pages from the PDFs so you can get a sense of the material before I ask you a very important question.
So there. You read all of it, right? Good jorb.
Hopefully it gives you an idea. I envision roughly 100 pages per book. But that’s SO much writing for all nine that I do worry I might not get to them all.
I’m doing the ones I want to do first because, y’know, passion is the fuel that gets tasks done. But I’m also interested in polling anyone who’s found their way here (You). What layer of Hell are YOU most interested in? What about making your vote in the comments below? Tell me not only which layer you most want to see, but WHY.
I will certainly take consensus into account.
Now. Pick your poison.
Peace,
and happy gaming
